Teaching Children How to Draw

For preschool children, teaching drawing can be a challenge because they are not really good at following verbal instructions yet. Art learning is best done by just giving them a sheet of paper and some crayons, or maybe free coloring pages that they can work on, so that they learn how to explore and use crayons or other writing implements. It is best if adult supervisors teach them how to draw but not expect them to really come up with realistic drawings. Teaching art should be done an informal way while making sure the kids are having fun. The advantage of teaching preschool age children how to draw is that they haven’t learned how to self criticize thus they can frustration. Preschoolers won’t compare their drawings with others yet. As the child progress is in skill, drawing will become more rewarding for him because the drawings he’ll be making will become more and more realistic.

Make a Volcano Smoke

I think every school kid has made a volcano at some point. My volcano was made out of paper mache and was about one foot tall. My volcano definitely did not smoke, but I wish it did. Dry ice can take your volcano to the next level. When you add dry ice to hot water it creates large amounts of dry ice fog. To make it work in a science project heres what you do. Go to the local grocery store and purchase some dry ice. Five pounds of dry ice is plenty of dry ice to handle this one. Find a cup that fits in the inside of the volcano. Fill the cup with hot water and place it inside the volcano. The hotter you can get the water the better the results. Then place chunks of dry ice in to the cup. Dry ice fog will come pouring out of the volcano on to the town below.

Painting Gallery: an Educational Trip

You should include a visit to the painting gallery in the field trip itinerary of your students and you will not regret it. Painting galleries can serve as an eye opener to student especially those in the high school and collegiate levels. Art is not just about displaying various images and colors. It is not just about showing the scenery of a place. Art pieces tell their own stories. It can tell the story of a frustrated ballerina. It can also tell the story of the fallen hero in a battle. Perhaps, it is just a scenic view of a place but behind the painting there is the story of an old woman who is reminiscing her husband as they used to walk along a pathway in the woods. Looking at artworks can be thought provoking and this can help students become more educated in the field of the arts, philosophy, history and so much more.

Grandmas Can Help You Sew!

Since my grandmother taught me how to do cross stitch I decided that it would be a good idea for her to help me learn to sew and to read the best sewing machine reviews with me so that she can help me set up the sewing machine when it arrives.

My granny seems to know a lot about sewing and has a bunch of knowledge that can help me quickly learn the right techniques to get me sewing in the right direction. I decided that my first pattern would be a back pack that is int he shape of a turtle. She said that would be an easy way to start and that it would only take us a couple of hours to sew the pieces and put it together.

That seemed like a good test for my new sewing machine so that is what we did and the turtle back pack turned out great!
